Assistance with Gianfranco Fini[edit]

I need help with Gianfranco Fini. It is a draft that has been currenty declined. However, I feel it is a subject that is notable for Wikipedia. The issues I believe are mostly with references. Secondary, reliable references are mainly required for the page in English, Italian or other languages. Feel free to edit the page as per Wikipedia's standards. Gianfranco Fini is an Italian architect and designer. I will try to find more references and edit this as per Wikipedia guidelines too. Two similar subjects have a Wikipedia page created as well that is Renato Mambor and Mario Ceroli. Any assistance regarding this would be appreciated. Airship302 (talk) 07:51, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Others may take a different view, but personally I don’t input to articles which have been created for payment, even if disclosed. KJP1 (talk) 08:16, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Help required[edit]

I am working on Draft:Dudhsagar Dairy plant. I am unable to write reception and interpretation section due to my limited understanding of architecture criticism. The first reference in the article has a section on interpretation. Can anyone help? Regards,-Nizil (talk) 14:45, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

List names of architects in the Architecture of Belarus article[edit]

Hi all,

I made the Architecture of Belarus article and have been working on it solidly ever since. Obviously the page is going to mention quite a few specific buildings in the country (perhaps 20+ when finished) so I thought I'd ask whether it's worth listing the names of chief architects for each. Eg. National Opera and Ballet of Belarus (1934-1938, architects Vitaly Petrov & Ivan Zaitsev). These names are just made up for the sake of example btw.

Thanks! Noteduck (talk) 04:46, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Noteduck, I am not sure if I understand your question, but yes, you can mention the names of architects of buildings in the article. I would recommend looking at a more established article, such as Architecture of Finland, as an example. TSventon (talk) 07:48, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Lodge - new article needed?[edit]

Lodge is currently a Disambiguation page. Thinking about the type of lodge which is typically “a small house at the gates of a park or in the grounds of a large house, occupied by a gatekeeper, gardener or other employee”, I wonder if we need a new article. The closest current approximation I can find is Gatehouse, but that is more about the, genuinely defensive, type of portal to a castle or one set within town walls. I’m thinking more of the type of decorative/domestic feature, such as the one here. I would be interested in other editors’ thoughts. I’d also be interested in any ideas for sources. I’m sure I do have a slim history of the lodge somewhere but can’t remember the title/author. Lastly, I’m not sure how one would overwrite a Disambiguation page without making quite a mess. KJP1 (talk) 07:09, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

KJP1 the main problem is finding multiple reliable sources. The new article could be written at Draft:Lodge then Lodge moved to Lodge (disambiguation), then Draft:Lodge moved to Lodge. If the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC is not obvious, requested moves could be used. TSventon (talk) 08:05, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
Many thanks, TSventon, very helpful. I’ve now found my source, Comings and Goings, a history of gatehouses and lodges published by English Heritage in 2002. I actually think there will be multiple mentions in other architecture books, but probably not of chapter length. I shall see what I can find and, if there seems to be enough, I shall ask for your help in making the necessary page switches. I think the PrimaryTopic of Lodge would be the kind of gatehouse I have in mind, although I suppose one could make a case for Masonic lodge? KJP1 (talk) 08:51, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
KJP1 happy to help with moves. Hope you find the sources- Google books isn't much help in this case. TSventon (talk) 09:13, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
I’m gathering some, online, bits on my Talkpage. I’ll then go through my books but that will take a bit longer. You’re right - the online searches tend to give Masonic responses! KJP1 (talk) 09:34, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
p.s. Will this, Gate Lodge, get in the way? KJP1 (talk) 10:28, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
KJP1, Gate lodge could be a good title and currently exists as a redirect. Gate Lodge shouldn't be a problem as it has different capitalisation and has a hatnote at the top linking to similar articles. I suggest producing a draft article and deciding on a final title depending on what the sources say. Then any necessary moves could be done as requested moves with lodge and gate lodge as alternative titles. TSventon (talk) 10:58, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
[1] - This suggests that Jill Franklin intended a history of the lodge. A great pity that her early death meant it was never published. It would have been invaluable. But Trumpet at a Distant Gate: The Lodge as Prelude to the Country House by Tim Mowl is now on its way. KJP1 (talk) 11:17, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Image sizes[edit]

As one of the editors stated: And please don't change them! I don't think architecture articles should are written for those who have the smallest possible screens. One size does not fit all. . I take that as a shocking affront to everybody with small screens. And to people with poor eyesight. Because they can not cope with the excessive image sizes this user prefers. We write for everybody, not for a select group, although that user states: This style may be great for the who read only on telephones, but it looks terrible on an I-pad or a Mac Book.

It is serious concern that I have. The Banner talk 14:43, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

What are you talking about? One of what editors? The mobile view ignores the standard image formatting anyway. Myself, I don't see why "people with poor eyesight ... can not cope with the excessive image sizes" if by "excessive" large is meant. Johnbod (talk) 14:38, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
here Ceoil (talk) 15:42, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
I have reverted your reinstatement of the excessive sizes. I am not 25 anymore, my eyesight is not that great so I have the zoom level at my PC at 170% to be able to read the text comfortably. Then you have really large pictures that push all text away. The Banner talk 20:28, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
Seeing that it is already reverted, it seems that "others" are not relevant towards the chosen style that only fits the chosen few. Good to know. The Banner talk 20:32, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
I looked at the Bourges Cathedral article on iphone, ipad and windows desktop (with a small longer than its wide screen), logged in and out. In each instance the way it was was better, or the same. I'm not convinced your ill tempered claims are based on reality, while my real objection, noted in the edit summary, is that the scale you imposed makes the images so small as to be no real informative, educational value.
